About Culbertson

Culbertson Nebraska is a village tucked in the corner of Southwest Nebraska with a population of 573 people. It was founded in 1873 and incorporated in 1885. It served as the first county seat of Hitchcock County. Culbertson was named in honor of Alexander Culbertson, who was an Indian agent, fur trader, and partner in the Upper Missouri Outfit.

Since Culbertson is a small farming community you have less crime, traffic, and smog to worry about. Culbertson offers an elementary school, a public library, a wonderful walking trail, two restaurants, a public swimming pool, two public parks, a bank, is minutes from the Swanson Reservoir State Recreation Area and is in close proximity to McCook, NE.
