Culbertson Nebraska is a village tucked in the corner of Southwest Nebraska with a population of 573 people. It was founded in 1873 and incorporated in 1885. It served as the first county seat of Hitchcock County. Culbertson was named in honor of Alexander Culbertson, who was an Indian agent, fur trader, and partner in the Upper Missouri Outfit.
